Position Summary:
This role offers the flexibility to work remotely within North Carolina or nearby states.
Provide expert engineering assistance for PowerSecure MicroGrid systems, including switchgear and generators. Committed to delivering exceptional customer service by meeting expectations, utilizing extensive experience, systematic analysis, and engineering expertise to make informed and safe decisions, while excelling in problem resolution through logical and proven methodologies.
Essential Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience in the Switchgear and/or Power Generation sector.
• Over 12 years of experience in commercial/industrial settings, specifically with Generators, ATS/switchgear, and Paralleling Control systems.
• Proficient in interpreting Electrical and Mechanical Schematics and Engineer of Record Drawings.
• Knowledge in Programming Logic Controllers (PLC), Generator controllers, Protective relays, and Alternators.
• Field experience and commissioning knowledge are advantageous.
• NFPA 70 ARC Flash Certification is preferred.
• Valid Driver's License required.
• Ability to comprehend and modify Switchgear and/or PowerGen controllers and devices.
• Understanding of operational principles of Switchgear and/or PowerGen products.
• Competence in troubleshooting Switchgear and/or PowerGen systems.
• Capability to follow project scopes effectively.
• Experience leading Root Cause Analysis teams to address field discrepancies.
• Familiarity with PowerSecure Microgrid Solution Products.
• Strong grasp of AC/DC Electrical Theory.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, including failure analysis and corrective action implementation.
• Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Act as a liaison between engineering teams and field operations to address issues that arise during startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
• Assist with complex startup processes, providing technical support via phone and occasionally onsite.
• Manage onsite engineering changes to drawings and settings files.
• Communicate open action items effectively to ensure proper planning and task assignment.
• Support the development and execution of field retrofit projects, engineering change notices, and technical troubleshooting guidelines.
• Collaborate with Product Support Training Specialists to resolve technical challenges.
• Escalate critical issues to leadership that may impact project quality or timelines to ensure customer satisfaction without incurring excessive costs.
• Assist the Product Support Manager in scheduling and prioritizing tasks.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
• Occasional travel may be necessary, up to 45%.
• Exposure to industrial equipment, including switchgear/switchboards and generators, both indoors and outdoors.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions, including outdoor environments.
• Proficient manual dexterity for operating digital equipment, including computers and PLCs.
• Availability for after-hours and weekend support as needed.
• The primary work environment will be remote, with travel potentially requiring exposure to various weather conditions and industrial settings.
