The Clinical Laboratory Scientist II (CLS II) operates under the guidance of senior technical staff in the Point of Care Testing Division.

Responsibilities encompass conducting routine laboratory assessments and may include some advanced testing procedures.

Key activities involve managing and maintaining testing apparatus, executing and documenting quality control measures, training non-laboratory personnel, identifying and addressing issues, and validating and reporting test outcomes.

Additional responsibilities include supporting essential functions necessary for the laboratory's daily operations. All tasks are performed with a keen awareness of the developmental considerations relevant to the patient demographics served.

Essential Qualifications

+ A valid Clinical Laboratory Scientist license in California or a limited license pertinent to the responsibilities assigned.
+ A Bachelor’s Degree in biological sciences, chemistry, medical technology, or a related field.
+ A minimum of one year of clinical laboratory experience in any laboratory setting is acceptable, with two years preferred.
+ A minimum of two years of clinical laboratory experience specifically in Point of Care testing is preferred.

Physical Requirements:

+ Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and lift materials weighing up to 25 pounds over distances of up to 10 feet.
+ Frequent use of computer keyboards, monitors, and telecommunication devices.

Ability to respond to auditory signals and communication devices: telephones, pagers, fire alarms, and mechanical failure alerts.
+ Near visual acuity, including color differentiation.
