Job Summary

The University of Virginia Department of Neurology is seeking a Grants and Contracts Specialist or Administrator to support our research mission. This role will work closely with various stakeholders across the University and the School to provide high-quality customer service for research faculty and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and manage research awards from start to completion, ensuring scope, schedule, and budget are met.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret complex data, providing technical analysis, financial guidance, and projections.
  • Understand, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, contracts, budgets, and labor/management agreements.
  • Prepare and manage numerous proposal submissions, including filling out forms, preparing letters, uploading proposal documents into sponsor portals, mailing proposal hardcopies, and interpreting guidelines for the Principal Investigator.
  • Create monthly account reconciliations for multiple awards, handle labor scheduling, process vendor invoices for multiple awards, and perform cost transfers.
  • Prepare funding reports, final invention statements, and progress reports, providing guidance to researchers completing grant applications.
  • Assist with the preparation of budgets, budget justifications, revisions, monitoring, identifying budget resources, and authorizing grants and contract accounting.
  • Approve purchases and expenditures or maintain and reconcile accounting records.
  • Ensure compliance with terms and conditions of contracts relating to effort reporting, expenditures, and personnel actions.
  • Provide information on policy and procedure interpretation, new regulations, and new processes to faculty, staff, and external sponsors.
  • Negotiate successful resolutions to various situations while demonstrating a high level of attention to detail.
Requirements
  • Grants and Contracts Administrator: Bachelor's degree, at least three years of grant and contract experience, and Certified Research Administrator (CRA) certification preferred.
  • Grants and Contract Specialist: Associate's degree, at least two years of grant and contract experience, and two additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.
Work Environment

This is a hybrid opportunity with an in-person schedule to be determined with the hiring manager. The position is located in Charlottesville, VA.
