Role: Restorative Justice and Teen Court Intern

Compensation: $500 Per Semester

Weekly Commitment: 10-15 hours

Founded in 1974, Reach For Youth, Inc. was initiated by a group of community leaders dedicated to addressing the absence of essential services in their area. Today, we impact over 2000 young individuals and their families across Central Indiana by offering mental health support, intervention strategies, restorative justice initiatives, and various preventive services aimed at empowering youth and fortifying families. Our mission centers on advocacy for underrepresented community members, fostering resilience, and ensuring emotional stability through our services, all grounded in social justice principles.

Services Offered

Our organization uniquely delivers services through two primary avenues: mental health counseling and restorative justice interventions. Our mental health services encompass individual and family counseling, alongside educational and therapeutic group sessions. We have introduced an innovative initiative, R.E.A.C.H., which integrates mental health support with social-emotional learning and career readiness. Our restorative justice programs include Teen Court, Peer Justice Council, and various educational workshops, all designed to promote positive youth development.

Internship Responsibilities

As an intern, you will play a vital role within our leadership team, collaborating with Outreach Directors and the Teen Court Director to advance our mission through community initiatives. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Engaging in case management to connect participants with essential community resources.
  • Assisting in the implementation of social-emotional learning models for students and parents.
  • Supporting Directors in community outreach, program facilitation, and data management.
  • Building partnerships with community organizations to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Recruiting and training volunteers to support agency initiatives.
  • Tracking and scheduling client referrals efficiently.
  • Participating in organizational events and meetings.
  • Performing additional related duties as necessary.
