Job Title: Central Services Technician I

Join the County of Los Angeles team as a Central Services Technician I and play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of patient care. As a member of our Central Services team, you will be responsible for performing a range of tasks related to the sterilization, packaging, and distribution of medical supplies and equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Disassemble, decontaminate, clean, and reassemble medical, surgical, and patient care supplies.
  • Assemble utensil sets, single package instruments, sterile containers, and trays for sterilization.
  • Dispense supplies to authorized personnel according to established procedures.
  • Fill emergency requests for routine supplies.
  • Receive supplies at loading docks, stock unit storerooms, and assist with periodic physical inventories.
  • Disassemble, clean, and check the operation of suctioning machines, respirators, and other surgical equipment.
  • Load and unload supply carts and deliver sterile processed supplies to service areas and collect and deliver used supplies back to the processing area.
  • Operate steam and gas sterilizers, autoclaves, gamma ray, and other processing equipment under the guidance of higher-level technicians.
  • Read, interpret, and record sterilization parameters from sterilizer recording mechanisms and complete records of sterilization processes, chemical/biological test results, and sterilizer cleaning.

Requirements:

  • Option I: Six months' experience cleaning, assembling, packaging, and sterilizing medical, surgical, and nursing supplies, instruments, and equipment or assisting in ordering, stocking, and distributing such supplies.
  • Option II: Completion of a central services technician course in an accredited vocational school or community college.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST).
