Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Service Technician I to join our team at Smiths Detection. As a key member of our service team, you will be responsible for providing technical support and repair services to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support and repair services to customers at various locations, including airports, correctional facilities, and courthouses.
  • Install, repair, and maintain equipment in the field, providing customer training as required.
  • Document all inspections, maintenance, and repair work, submitting paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Order, install, and return parts, managing repair parts cycle time.
  • Review all logs for open issues and prepare formal reports to customers as necessary.
  • Participate in Service Sales opportunities and assist with promoting and implementing revenue programs.
  • Ensure that tools and test equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Assess product/equipment performance based on field support data, recommending modifications or improvements.
  • Provide technical support to customers and other service professionals as required.
  • May participate in site surveys, pilot program service activities, and attend meetings.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or related trade certification (electrical, electronic, mechanical) or military training (electrical, mechanical, electronics).
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience directly involved in troubleshooting and field repair of electrical and electronic systems and equipment.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong orientation for customer focus and teamwork.
  • Ability to travel at short notice and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical and mental requirements include lifting/carrying 80 lbs, pushing/pulling 200 lbs, and working in extreme environments.
