Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Specialist to join our team at SWRI. As a key member of our Employee Services department, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our payroll processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Payroll processes and procedures.
  • Provide exceptional support to employees and other departments with payroll and timekeeping inquiries.
  • Collaborate with our Employee Services department to administer SwRI's FMLA, LTD, and Worker's Compensation policy.
  • Conduct payroll orientation and process timekeeping security and Service Contract Act updates.
  • Work with our Employee Services department on FMLA, LTD, and worker's compensation claims.
  • Perform employment and wage verifications, submit new hire reporting, and process wage garnishments.
  • Process employee election changes for retirement, direct deposit, and W-4 forms, as well as returned ACH payroll deposits and employee updates.
  • Utilize a wide range of software to perform various accounting functions.
  • Identify process improvements and maintain excellent communication skills to work collaboratively with all levels of employees and functional departments.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Human Resources.
  • At least 5 years of directly related professional-level experience (or equivalent experience without a degree).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ability to type efficiently.
  • Knowledge of general business practices and procedures, with the ability to maintain organization and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to exercise discretion, independent judgment, and confidentiality.
  • Valid/clear driver's license.
