Job Responsibilities:

In this role, you will independently execute or coordinate a range of advanced financial activities, including intricate accounting functions that adhere to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). You will manage accounting and reporting processes, guiding the workflow of team members. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the meticulous maintenance of assigned financial records and the preparation of comprehensive financial reports. You will also assist with GAAP and regulatory reporting for your designated business unit or division, along with performing related accounting tasks and analyses.

Key Duties:
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to junior team members, including reviewing and approving their work.
  • Prepare or review journal entries and monitor account activities to accurately reflect financial transactions in line with GAAP and internal policies.
  • Compile and maintain essential supporting documentation.
  • Complete or review reconciliations for assigned general ledger accounts, ensuring compliance with corporate policies.
  • Maintain thorough supporting documentation.
  • Design, implement, and document accounting workflows and controls for assigned accounts and subsidiary systems, recommending refinements as necessary.
  • Review and update policies to ensure compliance with regulations and corporate standards.
  • Develop new accounting processes and procedures as required.
  • Prepare and analyze complex reports related to financial performance, internal controls, and budget variances.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for assigned general ledger reports.
  • Respond to inquiries and analyze financial information.
  • Ensure accurate and timely submission of management, regulatory, and financial reports.
  • Maintain corporate and subsidiary accounting systems, ranging from simple spreadsheets to complex databases.
  • Assist in developing and testing economic models.
  • Stay informed about applicable GAAP concepts.
  • Build expertise in your area of responsibility.
  • Coordinate responses for internal or external audits.
  • Collaborate with Accounting Policy regarding external and regulatory requests.
Qualifications:
The following qualifications are essential for this role:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration or equivalent education and training.
  • Three years of relevant accounting experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Robust analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational and leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office, with a focus on spreadsheets and databases.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional designation (or candidate for designation) as a CPA or CMA.
  • Master's degree in accounting or business administration.
  • Five years of experience in financial services accounting.
  • Experience with a Big 4 or Top Ten accounting firm.
  • Experience in Audit and Financial Reporting.
