Cardiac Catheterization Specialist - Sign-on Bonus Available
Position Overview
As a Cardiac Catheterization Specialist at the University of Michigan, you will provide outstanding patient care in a leading cardiovascular facility recognized nationally for excellence. Your responsibilities will encompass monitoring, circulating, and assisting in procedures for patients with congenital or acquired cardiac and peripheral conditions. You will collaborate with a dedicated team of experts and renowned physicians while utilizing cutting-edge technology in interventional cardiac, structural heart, and peripheral procedures.
Sign-on Bonus Potential: Up to $3500
Key Responsibilities
- Engage in research initiatives and contribute to peer education and training.
- Exhibit exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Perform advanced emergency care using devices such as Tandem Heart, Impella, IntraAortic Balloon Pump, and Angiojet after completing the necessary orientation. You will also utilize advanced tools like Optical Coherence Tomography, Intravascular Ultrasound, and Fractional Flow Reserve post-orientation.
- Successfully assist in structural heart procedures following proper training.
Required Qualifications
- ACLS certification within six months of employment.
- Demonstrated understanding of Patient and Family Centered Care (PFCC) principles, including Respect and Dignity, Information Sharing, Participation, and Collaboration.
- One of the following qualifications is mandatory:
- RCIS certification or eligibility for the RCIS exam as a graduate of an accredited Invasive Cardiovascular Technology program, with successful completion within one year of hire.
- ARRT certification in Radiography with 1-2 years of diagnostic imaging experience, and advanced ARRT certification for Cardiac Interventional (CI) required within two years of hire.
- A degree in health science (e.g., cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, nursing) with successful completion of the RCIS exam within two years of hire.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in interventional and structural heart procedures, familiarity with surgical instruments, and adherence to sterile techniques.
- Current ARRT certification with advanced credentials in CV or VI.
- Active RCIS certification.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week, with a schedule of four 10-hour shifts during the day/evening in the Cardiac Procedures Unit. On-call duties are expected, with a 30-minute response time.
Work Environment
Eligibility for hybrid or remote work arrangements is determined by the hiring department. Work agreements are reviewed annually and may change at any time.

This position is part of the bargaining unit represented by the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which advocates for members regarding wages, benefits, hours, and other employment conditions.
