Position: Assistant Managing Clerk

This role is a non-exempt position with a competitive salary of $95,000. The working hours are from 11 am to 7 pm or alternative hours from 12 am to 8 pm, with the possibility of overtime as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Managing Clerk in providing essential docketing, calendaring, and electronic filing support for all Firm cases across state and federal jurisdictions.
  • Address procedural inquiries from attorneys and paralegals regarding federal, state, and local court regulations.
  • Utilize the CourtAlert case management system to review, docket, and calendar court and discovery documents.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable court rules by reviewing documents prior to service or filing.
  • Facilitate the serving and e-filing of court documents in all relevant jurisdictions.
  • Act as a liaison with court personnel, process servers, and external vendors.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal court rules and procedures, particularly the New York CPLR and FRCP.
  • Extensive experience with electronic filing systems, including NYSCEF and other state court e-filing platforms, as well as federal ECF/ACMS systems.
  • Proficient in docketing and calendaring functions using rules-based docketing software, such as CourtAlert or eDockets/Milana.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with legal terminology and documentation processes.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Reliability and punctuality are essential.
  • Ability to maintain integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality in all tasks.
  • Commitment to ensuring the confidentiality of all Firm and client information.
  • Adept at working in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Strong time management and task prioritization skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage overtime as necessary.

Education and Experience:

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in a Managing Clerk's or Managing Attorney's Office is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree is highly valued but not mandatory.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be capable of sitting for extended periods while working at a desk and using a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
