MWH Constructors, a prominent player in the heavy civil construction sector specializing in water and wastewater facilities, is in search of an Assistant Project Manager to assist in the execution of electrical and instrumentation tasks. This role encompasses various responsibilities including procurement, contract oversight, change management, quality assurance, and issue resolution for a significant wastewater treatment facility project.

The Assistant Project Manager will be accountable for ensuring that all work is conducted within budget, adheres to the schedule, and complies with contractual documents and engineering standards. This position will report directly to the Senior Electrical Project Manager.

This project incorporates innovative technology in the U.S. wastewater sector known as Thermal Hydrolysis, which transforms biosolids from the treatment process into renewable energy. Upon completion, this facility will be recognized as the largest Thermal Hydrolysis wastewater treatment plant in the nation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and support to Trade Package Project Managers and Site Superintendents.
  • Procurement - Assist Project Managers and Contracts Team in creating procurement documents to ensure timely availability of trade contracts, services, and materials.
  • Change Management - Collaborate with Project Managers and Superintendents to evaluate proposed change orders and validate cost estimates. Aid in managing Time and Materials tickets for executed change orders.
  • Scheduling - Support Project Managers in weekly updates with trade contractors and the program schedule team.
  • Documentation - Work with the Project Engineering team to ensure timely processing of submittals and RFIs, and maintain accurate As-Built drawings for assigned trade packages.
  • Issue Resolution - Participate in regular meetings to track critical issues and drive resolutions through effective communication.
  • Quality Assurance - Understand quality requirements for assigned trade packages and coordinate with contractors to ensure compliance with contract specifications.
  • Safety - Ensure a safe working environment for all personnel, adhering to safety protocols and documenting compliance with safety program requirements.
  • Promote a culture of safety by following company health and safety guidelines.

Basic Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science degree or higher in engineering, construction management, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in project engineering, site supervision, or trade package management, particularly in electrical, controls, or instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with contract scoping documents, contract drawings, specifications, and basic construction principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the electrical sector within the water/wastewater industry or similar fields.
  • Hands-on experience in construction environments.

Compensation

  • The expected salary range is between $125,000 and $150,000 annually.
