MWH Constructors, a prominent entity in the heavy civil construction sector specializing in water and wastewater infrastructure, is in search of an Assistant Project Manager to facilitate the execution of electrical and instrumentation tasks. This role encompasses procurement, contract oversight, change management, quality assurance, and issue resolution for a significant wastewater treatment facility project.

The Assistant Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all operations are conducted within budgetary constraints and timelines, adhering to contract specifications and engineering standards. This position will report directly to the Senior Electrical Project Manager.

This project features innovative technology in the U.S. wastewater sector known as Thermal Hydrolysis, which transforms biosolids from the treatment process into renewable energy. Upon completion, it will stand as the largest Thermal Hydrolysis wastewater treatment facility in the nation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and assistance to Trade Package Project Managers and Site Superintendents.
  • Procurement - Collaborate with Project Managers and the Contracts Team to create procurement documents for trades and equipment, ensuring timely availability of all necessary contracts, services, and materials.
  • Change Management - Work with Project Managers and Superintendents to evaluate proposed change orders and validate cost estimates. Assist in managing Time and Materials tickets for executed change orders.
  • Scheduling - Aid Project Managers in weekly updates regarding trade contractors and the overall program schedule.
  • Documentation - Coordinate with the Project Engineering team to ensure the prompt processing of submittals and RFIs, as well as the accurate maintenance of As-Built drawings.
  • Issue Resolution - Participate in regular meetings to track critical issues that require resolution to maintain construction progress, ensuring effective communication with responsible parties.
  • Quality Assurance - Understand the quality requirements for assigned trade packages and collaborate with trade contractors and the Program Quality team to ensure compliance with contract standards.
  • Safety - Uphold the safety protocols of MWH Constructors to achieve a zero-accident project environment. Ensure all personnel meet safety training and equipment requirements.
  • Monitor compliance with project safety regulations and document corrective actions as necessary.
  • Adhere to company health and safety guidelines to ensure personal and team safety.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree or higher in engineering, construction management, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in project engineering, site supervision, or trade package management, particularly in electrical, controls, or instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with contract scoping documents, contract drawings, specifications, and fundamental construction principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the electrical sector within the water/wastewater industry or similar fields.
  • On-site construction field experience.

Compensation:

  • The expected salary range is between $125,000 and $150,000 annually.
