The Assistant Project Manager will be accountable for ensuring that project activities are conducted within budgetary constraints and timelines, adhering to contractual obligations and engineering standards. This position will directly report to the Senior Electrical Project Manager.

This project utilizes innovative technology in the U.S. wastewater sector known as Thermal Hydrolysis, which transforms biosolids from the treatment process into renewable energy. Upon completion, it will stand as the largest Thermal Hydrolysis wastewater treatment facility operational in the United States.

Key Responsibilities

  • Offer guidance and assistance to Trade Package Project Managers and Site Superintendents.
  • Procurement - Collaborate with Project Managers and the Contracts Team to create procurement documents for trades and equipment, ensuring all necessary contracts, services, and materials are secured timely.
  • Change Management - Work with Project Managers and Superintendents to assess proposed change orders against contract documents and evaluate the validity of cost estimates. Aid in managing Time and Materials tickets as necessary.
  • Scheduling - Assist Project Managers in providing weekly updates on progress with trade contractors and the program schedule team.
  • Documentation - Coordinate with the Project Engineering team to ensure prompt processing of submittals and RFIs, and maintain accurate As-Built drawings for assigned trade packages.
  • Issue Resolution - Participate in regular meetings to track critical issues that need resolution to sustain construction progress, facilitating communication with responsible parties.
  • Quality Assurance - Understand the quality requirements for assigned trade packages and collaborate with trade contractors and the Program Quality team to ensure that quality activities are effectively planned, executed, and documented in line with contract stipulations.
  • Safety - Ensure the safe operation of MWH personnel, striving for a zero-accident project environment. Verify that all site personnel meet essential safety training and equipment requirements.
  • Monitor compliance with project safety protocols and document corrective actions as necessary.
  • Adhere to company health and safety guidelines to ensure personal and team safety.

Basic Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science degree or higher in engineering, construction management, or a related field. Equivalent experience, skills, and training may be considered.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in project engineering, site supervision, or trade package management, particularly in electrical, controls, or instrumentation.
  • Proficiency in preparing contract scoping documents, interpreting contract drawings and specifications, and understanding basic construction principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the electrical sector within the water/wastewater industry or similar fields.
  • Hands-on experience in construction field operations.

Compensation

  • The expected salary range is between $125,000 and $150,000 annually.
