ROLE OVERVIEW

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineering Lead, you will report to the Discipline Manager or Engineering Manager, taking charge of a specific discipline area. Your primary responsibility will be to plan and coordinate the technical expertise and services necessary for the successful execution of high-quality engineering projects that align with both commercial and technical requirements. You are expected to enhance discipline work processes and provide technical governance within your area of expertise. The role encompasses involvement in studies, tenders, and ongoing projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will:
  • Offer specialized skills, integrity, and knowledge in critical areas of project or discipline engineering, including design codes, regulatory requirements, and best engineering practices.
  • Understand client requirements; identify and resolve design parameters and challenges; develop and implement effective solutions.
  • Serve as a technical authority in all facets of offshore geotechnical engineering design and installation.
  • Manage project interfaces, collaborating with other disciplines, drawing offices, document control, project management, clients, and suppliers.
  • Engage in conceptual studies.
  • Conduct geotechnical engineering calculations and prepare design reports for subsea foundation design, pipeline initiation anchorages, and pipeline/soil interaction.
  • Possess knowledge of trenching equipment, including its applications and limitations.
  • Review and approve technical documentation, accepting responsibility for its adequacy.
  • Identify and manage geotechnical risks.
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications and standards.
  • Actively participate in the training and development of engineers.
  • Propose innovative solutions to reduce costs and risks.
  • Evaluate, organize, and prioritize work for yourself and others.

  • Support the establishment of standards and procedures for the Engineering Function.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Experience, Skills, and Knowledge:
  • Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering with a focus on geotechnical expertise. (Significant experience in a similar role will also be considered).
  • Over 10 years of relevant engineering experience in offshore geotechnical engineering design and installation.
  • Familiarity with marine classification and local regulations (Essential).
  • Proven ability to operate within time and budget constraints.
  • Exhibit a professional demeanor appropriate for the role.
  • Deliver work of high quality.
  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and organize tasks effectively.
  • Utilize and reference relevant Codes and Standards related to geotechnical engineering in the offshore sector, such as ISO codes, DNV, and API.
  • Proficient in foundation FEA analysis software, such as PLAXIS (Essential) or similar tools.
  • Understand and manage geotechnical and geohazard risks.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification or the ability to obtain PE within six months.
