Position Summary

The Casing Running Equipment Operator is tasked with the safe and professional operation of casing running apparatus at various rig and field locations. This role also involves maintaining and repairing company equipment to ensure it remains in optimal working condition and adheres to both manufacturer and company quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Possess a solid understanding of the functionality of Tubular Running Service (TRS) Manual Handling Equipment, Power Equipment, Bucking Units, and Thread Monitoring Systems relevant to the assigned business segment.
  • Operate casing running tools, including power tongs, elevators, power slips, control panels, and hydraulic power units.
  • Utilize hand tools and operate hydraulically activated machinery.
  • Set up, operate, and dismantle various components on a drilling rig.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with all rig personnel, customers, and Parker Wellbore staff.
  • Serve as a mentor for Service Technicians I.
  • Complete delivery tickets, job reports, time-sheets, and other necessary administrative documentation.
  • Independently test, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot company equipment and tools.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by utilizing personal protective equipment (PPE), inspecting tools and equipment, maintaining an organized work area, and adhering to Parker Wellbore Life Saving Rules and location-specific QHSSE Policies.
  • Be accountable for the safe operation of all Parker Wellbore equipment.
  • Ensure the highest quality of workmanship aligns with company expectations and meets customer and regulatory standards.
  • Report any hazards or deficiencies in existing controls to a supervisor promptly.
  • Propose recommendations for safe job execution and report any unsafe acts, near misses, or incidents.
  • Participate in all required QHSSE meetings, safety training, equipment training, and medical evaluations.
  • Obtain necessary authorizations and training before undertaking any tasks.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the integrated management system by suggesting safer and more efficient methods for task execution.
  • Maintain communication with the Operations Supervisor during standby periods to coordinate further actions.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the TRS Lead or Field Service Supervisor.
Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Qualifications in Mechanical or Electronic Applications or relevant experience in rig operations.
  • Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of hydraulic and mechanical/electronic systems.
  • 3-4 years of relevant experience with mechanical, electronic, or hydraulic equipment, or similar experience in rig operations.
  • Familiarity with tubular handling equipment, including casing running tools, power tongs, elevators, power slips, control panels, and hydraulic power units.
  • Ability to work with hand tools and operate hydraulically activated equipment.
  • Capability to rig up, run, and rig down various components on a drilling rig.
  • Quick learner, results-oriented, with strong interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively and independently as directed.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to adapt positively to changes in policies, procedures, and work environments.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Ability to work around moving machinery.
  • Lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Operate machinery and power tools.
  • Ability to walk on uneven terrain (gravel, rocks, mounds, ice).
  • Wear personal protective equipment, including hard hats, steel-toed safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, safety glasses, goggles, and full-body harnesses.
  • Frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, carry, push/pull, reach, and perform repetitive wrist and hand movements.
  • Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps while carrying tools, requiring physical stamina and agility.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions (cold or heat).
  • Ability to comprehend, remember, and follow verbal and written instructions and comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work in hazardous conditions (dust, gas, fumes, steam, chemicals).
  • Exposure to vibration (oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body).
  • Ability to work as part of a team, communicate, and interact professionally with others while considering diverse perspectives.
