A Casing Equipment Operator plays a crucial role in the safe and efficient operation of casing running machinery at various field locations. This position also involves performing maintenance and repairs on company equipment to ensure optimal performance and adherence to both manufacturer and company quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Possess a comprehensive understanding of Tubular Running Services (TRS) Manual Handling Equipment, Power Equipment, Bucking Units, and Thread Monitoring Systems relevant to the assigned business segment. Operate casing running machinery, including casing running tools, power tongs, elevators, power slips, control panels, and hydraulic power units. Utilize hand tools and operate hydraulically activated equipment effectively. Set up, operate, and dismantle various components on a drilling rig. Maintain clear and professional communication with all rig personnel, clients, and company representatives. Serve as a mentor for junior Service Technicians. Complete delivery tickets, job reports, time-sheets, and other necessary documentation. Independently test, operate, maintain, and troubleshoot company equipment and tools. Ensure a safe working environment by adhering to personal protective equipment (PPE) protocols, inspecting tools and equipment, keeping the workspace organized, and following safety regulations. Be accountable for the safe operation of all company equipment. Uphold the highest standards of workmanship in line with company expectations and regulatory requirements. Report any hazards or deficiencies in safety controls to a supervisor promptly. Propose recommendations for safe job execution and report any unsafe behaviors or incidents. Participate in all safety meetings, training sessions, and medical evaluations as required. Obtain necessary training and authorization before undertaking any tasks. Contribute to the continuous improvement of the integrated management system by suggesting safer and more efficient work practices. Remain in contact with the Operations Supervisor during standby periods to coordinate actions. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the TRS Lead or Field Service Supervisor.

Qualifications

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty effectively. The following qualifications are indicative of the skills and experience required:

A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred. Background in Mechanical or Electronic Applications or prior experience in rig operations. Mechanical aptitude with a solid understanding of hydraulic and mechanical/electronic systems. 3-4 years of relevant experience with mechanical, electronic, or hydraulic equipment, or similar rig operations experience. Familiarity with tubular handling equipment, including casing running tools, power tongs, elevators, power slips, control panels, and hydraulic power units. Ability to work with hand tools and operate hydraulically activated equipment. Capability to rig up, operate, and dismantle various components on a drilling rig. Quick learner, results-oriented, with strong interpersonal skills, able to work collaboratively and independently as directed. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to adapt positively to changes in policies, procedures, and work environments.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Ability to work in proximity to moving machinery. Capable of lifting, carrying, and moving objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Proficient in operating machinery and power tools. Ability to navigate uneven terrain (gravel, rocks, mounds, ice). Required to wear personal protective equipment, including hard hats, steel-toed safety shoes, hearing protection, respirators, safety glasses, goggles, and full-body harnesses. Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, carry, push/pull, reach, and perform repetitive wrist and hand movements. Ability to ascend and descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, and ramps while carrying tools, necessitating a reasonable degree of physical stamina and agility. Capacity to work in varying weather conditions (cold or heat). Ability to comprehend, remember, and follow verbal and written instructions and comply with company policies and procedures. Ability to work in hazardous conditions (dust, gas, fumes, steam, chemicals). Exposure to vibration (oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body). Ability to work as part of a team, communicate, and interact with others professionally, considering diverse perspectives.
