Job Title: Intellectual Property Engineer/Patent AgentJob Summary

Unreal Gigs is seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Engineer/Patent Agent to join our team. As a key member of our intellectual property department, you will play a vital role in creating and managing our company's patent portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Patent Drafting and Prosecution: Prepare, draft, and prosecute domestic and foreign patent applications, collaborating with internal teams and external counsel.
  • Technical Support: Provide technical support for patent prosecution, including analyzing office actions and references, and writing claims for offensive or defensive patent strategy.
  • Technology Assessment: Interact with integrated circuit designers, applications engineers, and semiconductor device designers to identify patentable inventions and technologies worthy of patent protection.
  • Administrative Duties: Work with paralegals and administrative support to file patent applications and manage paperwork related to prosecution directly with the USPTO.
  • Portfolio Analysis: Conduct ongoing analysis of the patent portfolio to assess costs and benefits, providing information and recommendations for strategic business decisions.
  • Communication: Participate in regular meetings with executive management to provide updates on the patent portfolio and recommendations for strategic business decisions.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in electrical engineering or related field, with demonstrated competence in analog electronic circuits.
  • Registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office preferred, with a minimum of 3 years of experience in patent prosecution.
  • Strong technical writing and editing skills with a superior command of the English language.
  • Experience in composing patent applications or writing/editing articles for technical journals preferred.
  • Proficiency in software tools such as Visio, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Patent Center and electronic docketing systems such as Foundation IP is advantageous.
  • Experience in circuit construction and evaluation in the laboratory is desirable.
  • Familiarity with off-line switched-mode power supplies or high voltage semiconductor devices is a bonus.
