Position Overview
We are looking for a driven patent attorney to join our legal department. In this pivotal role, you will oversee and advance our patent portfolio, safeguarding our innovations and aligning with our strategic business goals.

Candidate Profile
You are a logical thinker with strong judgment and decision-making abilities, recognizing when to escalate matters. You excel in teamwork and possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills. You are adept at collaborating with various stakeholders to achieve shared objectives while considering both legal and business factors. You have a keen interest in emerging technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and advance a varied patent portfolio, including the drafting, filing, and prosecution of patent applications both domestically and internationally.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering teams to grasp technologies and identify strategic inventions.
  • Provide training and insights to internal teams regarding intellectual property matters and patent application processes.
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of AMD's technological advancements.
  • Advise and inform the organization on intricate intellectual property legal matters.
  • Offer guidance on patent-related issues, including assessments of patentability, intellectual property strategy, portfolio management, and enforcement.
  • Support intellectual property due diligence for mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications related to hardware and software technologies, including semiconductor technologies, digital circuitry, processors, memory solutions, artificial intelligence/machine learning, and communication technologies.
  • Experience in the computer and semiconductor sectors is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with international patents and applications, intellectual property analysis, strategy, validity, and infringement is desirable.
  • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.

Educational Background:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school with admission to a state bar.
  • Registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

Work Environment:
