Commodity Manager Job Description

Parker Hannifin Corporation is seeking a skilled Commodity Manager to join our team. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for obtaining the best quality, service, and value for products and services through effective bidding, negotiation, and supplier management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, negotiate, and administer complex contracts to ensure compliance on supplier cost, schedule, legal, and performance criteria.
  • Manage all phases of the commodity, including long-term contracting processes, requests for proposals/quotations, contract management plans, negotiation strategy, and cost accountability.
  • Serve as the division's focal point for all material-related activities, including developing a procurement plan, make/buy analysis, selecting potential sources of supply, and recommending new or alternate technologies.
  • Select qualified suppliers and manufacturers and develop new supply sources of high-dollar value, long-lead-time, critically needed parts, equipment, materials, or services.
  • Frequent formal and informal contact with suppliers and management regarding issues affecting supplier performance or cost.
  • Solicit and evaluate proposals/quotations from suppliers and negotiate prices and terms to achieve optimum results for the company.
  • Negotiate long-term contract agreements with key suppliers to obtain effective prices, terms, products, and services.
  • Closely monitor supplier performance to ensure contractual agreements, terms, and conditions are compliant.
  • Conduct supplier site visits and evaluate capacity and capability, performance and delivery, and other key business criteria.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field (e.g., finance, law/contract law; program management).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the job typically acquired through ten or more years of increasingly responsible experience in contract administration or procurement, including two or more years of high-level project and customer/supplier management.
