Position Overview
The Division of Waste and Hazardous Substances is dedicated to safeguarding the environment and ensuring public health and safety.

Role Summary

The Environmental Hydrologist II within the Remediation Section's Corrective Action Branch will oversee the assessment and remediation processes for several significant facilities governed by the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) and the Delaware Hazardous Waste Corrective Action program, along with other assigned remediation initiatives.

This role necessitates providing guidance to consultants engaged with these facilities and maintaining regular communication with the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Key responsibilities include participating in public forums and facilitating communication and collaboration with both public and private stakeholders.

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret field samples, scientific literature, and statistical data.
  • Supervise and document the installation of monitoring wells; inspect and compile data related to existing wells, waste disposal sites, and underground storage facilities.
  • Summarize data utilized in studies, projects, plans, specifications, and research.
  • Conduct mathematical calculations to assist in the evaluation of alternatives.
  • Review and provide feedback on permit applications.
  • Offer technical and regulatory insights.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements for Environmental Hydrologist II

Candidates must possess education, training, and/or experience demonstrating proficiency in the following areas:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Geology, Hydrology, or a related discipline.
  • At least six months of experience in hydrogeology and stratigraphy.
  • At least six months of experience in gathering hydrologic field data, including geological descriptions, water levels, and water samples.
  • At least six months of experience in interpreting relevant laws, regulations, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • At least six months of experience in technical report writing.
  • Knowledge of analyzing and interpreting hydrogeologic data and formulating technical recommendations.
