Position Overview: Rincon Consultants, Inc. is in search of a Junior Environmental Specialist to join our Environmental and Earth Systems team. In this role, you will collaborate closely with Project Managers and experienced professionals to scope, coordinate, and execute Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), groundwater and soil vapor monitoring, soil and groundwater remediation initiatives, and stormwater compliance projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate within a team to devise and implement innovative environmental project strategies.
- Assist in the preparation and execution of environmental site assessment work plans.
- Prepare Phase I ESAs, Initial Site Assessments, and Phase II ESAs with an emphasis on compliance with ASTM standards, precision, clarity, and quality control.
- Provide technical and general field support for various ESAs, including soil vapor, soil, indoor air, sediment, and groundwater sample collection for laboratory analysis.
- Conduct groundwater monitoring purging and sampling using standard volume purge and low flow methodologies.
- Observe drilling and monitoring well installation while classifying soil samples.
- Analyze analytical data in relation to project-specific clean-up goals or applicable screening levels.
- Conduct site inspections and reconnaissance to support ESAs.
- Engage with a dynamic team in a collaborative and enjoyable work environment.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Geology, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in environmental consulting.
- Aspirations to obtain a professional license (e.g., Professional Engineer or Professional Geologist).
- Experience in technical writing and documentation.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Current OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification.
- Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
- Experience in installing soil vapor and groundwater monitoring wells.
- Experience in groundwater purging and sampling utilizing various groundwater monitoring pumps and water quality indicator meters.
- Proficient in preparing soil boring logs, hydrographs, groundwater contour maps, field notes, sketches, and other documentation related to site investigation and remediation projects.
- A passion for environmental science and a love for outdoor work.
