Director of Alumni Engagement

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Director of Alumni Engagement. This is a key leadership role that will play a critical part in shaping the university's alumni engagement strategy and ensuring that all W&M alumni are engaged, involved, represented, and encouraged to be active with, informed about, and supportive of William & Mary.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and execute strategic plans to engage alumni across all class, regional, and affinity affiliations.
- Lead a team of professionals in the development and implementation of alumni engagement programs and events.
- Collaborate with colleagues across University Advancement and campus to foster a culture of belonging and trust that embraces all people and perspectives.
- Manage program documentation, metrics, analysis, annual reporting, and budgeting, including management of university and William & Mary Alumni Association funds.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with alumni, university stakeholders, and external partners to advance the university's fundraising initiatives.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness, including collaboration, staffing, and programming.
- Strong knowledge of volunteer management, with the demonstrated ability to train and manage volunteers, develop goals and strategies for alumni, and coordinate effective alumni engagement opportunities or special events.
- Demonstrated experience in alumni relations, fundraising, volunteer management, or related fields.
- Experience managing a budget and working knowledge of fundraising principles.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities.
- Strong administrative and project coordination experience, with the demonstrated ability to plan, manage, and track projects through completion.
- Excellent customer service skills, oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with a variety of internal and external constituencies.
- Extensive knowledge of the campus, mission, and traditions of William & Mary.
- Strong management skills, with the ability to manage, train, and oversee a team of direct reports.
- Demonstrated skills using online event registration systems and experience with Blackbaud or other Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
- Experience working in fundraising, marketing, and/or volunteer management.
