Job Summary:

This outside sales position involves promoting the company's products and services, as well as building relationships with new and existing accounts. The primary goal is to help Sysco customers succeed while achieving sales and profit goals set by the company. This role may require working non-traditional hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays) to meet customer needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop new business opportunities, penetrate existing accounts, and minimize lost sales to achieve profitable growth and special objectives within assigned territory.
  • Identify and qualify potential prospects in line with company account stratification goals.
  • Analyze customer business needs and create a mix of products and services to meet their requirements.
  • Evaluate market trends and recommend products to customers based on their business needs and goals.
  • Stay informed about market conditions, product innovations, and competitors' products, prices, and sales; share this information with customers as part of value-added services provided.
  • Provide product information and practical training to customer personnel.
  • Drive personal vehicle to customer accounts, conventions, company meetings, etc.
  • Communicate and collect accounts receivable as necessary, working with the credit department and clients; ensure timely collection of all balances due based on approved credit terms.
  • Manage deliveries according to the routing schedule published by the transportation department; troubleshoot any issues that occur during the order process (e.g., out-of-stock items, special orders, low inventory, etc.).
  • Participate in company events, promotions, customer visits, and customer events.
  • Attend and participate in general sales and district meetings.
  • Engage in ongoing training sessions.
  • Assist in the training of new employees as needed.
  • Analyze daily and weekly reports, such as special-order requests, customer bid files, and sales/gross profit margin data.
  • Perform administrative tasks, like preparing sales budgets and reports, maintaining sales records, processing credits and pick-up requests, preparing sales quotes and menu suggestions, and filing reports.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or a related field OR HSD/GED and 3 years of Restaurant Management, B2B, or outside sales experience, or equivalent relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingualism
  • Restaurant management, food service outside sales, or chef experience preferred.
