Position Summary

The Production Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the manufacturing processes within their department. This position is responsible for ensuring that production schedules are met while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage production schedules and qualifications for the department.
  • Ensure all job-related documentation is completed accurately to comply with industry standards.
  • Adapt room schedules based on production demands and resource availability.
  • Implement changeover improvement plans and track performance metrics.
  • Monitor and manage job processes effectively.
  • Lead and mentor team members, ensuring consistent application of company policies.
  • Conduct training sessions for operators to enhance their skills.
  • Address quality and personnel issues promptly.
  • Accountable for achieving key business metrics including safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Maintain open communication with team leads to facilitate smooth operations.
  • Foster the development of Team Leaders and Assistant Team Leaders.
  • Oversee hourly timekeeping and approvals.
  • Support lean manufacturing initiatives and participate in workshops.
  • Conduct regular quality audits to ensure compliance.
  • Lead area inspections and maintain visual management tools.
  • Exhibit professionalism and discretion in all interactions, upholding company values.
  • Perform additional duties as required.

Impact of Role

  • Ensure daily manufacturing processes align with production goals.
  • Collaborate with management to implement necessary production adjustments.

Safety Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations among all employees.
  • Implement safety policies as directed by management.
  • Promote a culture of safety within the team.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of any incidents and report findings promptly.
  • Perform regular safety inspections of the work area.
  • Ensure proper protective equipment is available and utilized.
  • Participate in Job Hazard Analysis to identify safety concerns.
  • Contribute ideas during safety meetings to enhance safety practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
  • Proven leadership capabilities.
  • Experience with MRP systems is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
  • Willingness to work various shifts as needed.

Knowledge Requirements

  • Understanding of regulated industries such as FDA and ISO standards.
  • Preferred knowledge of medical device manufacturing processes.
  • Insight into world-class manufacturing practices is a plus.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, walk, and sit for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of items up to 25 pounds.
  • Visual acuity to perform tasks effectively.

Educational Background

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field is required.
  • Engineering degree is a plus.

Experience

  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment is preferred.
