Position Overview:

The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a passionate and committed part-time Animal Welfare Education Facilitator to join our dedicated team and embody AHS's core values of Innovation, Compassion, and Excellence. Schedule: Up to 12 hours per week, including weekends and evenings

Reports To: Education Supervisor

Key Responsibilities:

The Animal Welfare Education Facilitator will be responsible for delivering a variety of engaging learning experiences that align with our strategic goals in community education. This role will involve facilitating weekend and evening programs for diverse age groups, aiming to foster a more empathetic and compassionate community. The Facilitator will ensure that our programs are interactive, hands-on, and effectively educate the community about animal welfare issues. Programs may include scout activities, birthday celebrations, reading initiatives, and guided tours. Weekly hours will fluctuate based on scheduled events.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver's license
  • Must obtain a fingerprint clearance card
  • Experience in customer service
  • 1-2 years of experience working with children in an educational or instructional environment
  • Ability to facilitate engaging fee-for-service programs such as birthday parties, reading initiatives, tours, field trips, and school programs
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm and patience in engaging and retaining students
  • Adherence to teaching standards and safety protocols established by AHS and the Education and Outreach Department
  • Ability to provide conflict resolution techniques in a safe and supportive environment
  • Set up and dismantle teaching areas and instructional materials
  • Exceed customer expectations through excellent service
  • Handle cash, checks, and credit transactions
  • Perform light administrative tasks to support program scheduling, reporting, and record-keeping
Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to manipulate objects, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. There may be exposure to dust, temperature variations, and animal-related sounds and odors. Most work will occur in a standard office environment that is air-conditioned and heated.
