Position Overview:

The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a committed and enthusiastic Animal Grooming Technician to become part of our Animal Care and Experience team. Key Responsibilities:

The Animal Grooming Technician will be responsible for delivering grooming services to the animals in our care, aimed at alleviating pain and discomfort and facilitating recovery or adoption. The Technician will work with a variety of animals, including cats, dogs, and other small creatures. This role involves hands-on interaction with animals that may be social, fearful, or recovering from sedation.

Essential Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Grooming certification preferred
  • Intermediate knowledge of grooming, animal handling, and behavior required
  • Perform essential grooming services including complete shave downs, mercy grooms, sanitary cuts, wound clipping, nail trims, ear cleaning, bathing, and brushing
  • Able to assess each animal's specific restrictions and handling limitations before providing services
  • Comprehensive knowledge of cleaning and care procedures, including proper chemical use and safety protocols
  • Monitor animals for signs of illness and stress, reporting any medical or behavioral changes promptly
  • Coordinate with leadership and other teams to ensure timely and efficient service delivery
  • Assist with other Animal Care & Experience department duties as needed
Physical Requirements:

This position requires frequent standing, walking, and handling of animals and supplies weighing over 50 pounds. Continuous repetitive motion of the hands, arms, and legs is necessary. Good vision and hearing are essential, along with the ability to multitask and maintain a consistent pace throughout the workday.
