Patient Safety Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Patient Safety Technician to join our team at North Oaks Medical Center. As a Patient Safety Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining patient safety and well-being by providing one-on-one observation and monitoring of selected patients.
Key Responsibilities- Remain at the bedside of assigned patients at all times, unless relieved by a licensed nurse.
- Never leave patients unattended for any reason.
- Assist in calming and/or reorienting patients in cases of agitation or confusion.
- Remove visible hazards and/or broken equipment from the patient's environment and report as necessary.
- Assist with keeping the patient's room clean, safe, and orderly.
- Maintain visual observations at all times and position yourself to have a constant view of the patient.
- Accompany patients during diagnostic testing.
- Immediately summon the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance or exhibits unusual behavior or verbalizations.
- Report any potentially dangerous behavior or concerning conversations to the nurse.
- Participate in hand-off of pertinent information/behavior about assigned patients when arriving on the unit and upon completion of shift assignment.
- Arrange meal break times with the nurse and inform the nurse prior to leaving the patient for any reason.
- High School or GED equivalent preferred.
- Ability to communicate verbally with patients, visitors, and co-workers.
- Must be able to sit constantly and stand occasionally.
- Provide continuous observation and surveillance of assigned patients.
- Verbally direct patients through remote monitors and timely communication to the nursing staff about the patient's behavior changes.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to hospital-related policies.
- Demonstrate understanding and proficiency of the use of the AvaSys TeleSitter Solution software.
- Maintain visual observation at all times and verbally redirect patients over digital 2-way audio devices.
- Immediately summon the nursing staff if the patient requires assistance.
