Job Overview

Position Summary:

This role is a vital component of the Westchester Therapeutic Foster Homes initiative. The individual in this position will play a key role in developing and enhancing the Westchester Therapeutic Foster Homes program. Responsibilities include overseeing the Home Finding aspect and the sociotherapist function within the program. The coordinator will manage the home finder and provide necessary support in the recruitment and retention of foster caregivers.

The coordinator will also assist the case planning team by supervising a sociotherapist and managing up to two cases. Additional duties involve facilitating MAPP training, matching youth with families, and aiding in the transition or transfer of youth into the Westchester Therapeutic Foster Homes program. Furthermore, the coordinator will deliver therapeutic assistance during crisis situations involving youth and their families.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW) is required.
  • A minimum of two years of experience in community-based services, with substantial experience in engaging youth, families, and stakeholders within the child welfare sector.
  • At least one year of experience in home finding and the recruitment/training of foster caregivers.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with professionals, youth, and families.
  • Minimum of one year of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills are essential.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of cultural, racial, and social issues affecting adolescents of color.
  • Ability to employ a multi-cultural approach when working with youth with special needs.
  • Capacity to manage crisis situations in a therapeutic manner.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Effective verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and respond to the needs of the program.
