Job Overview

The Youth Specialist position at The Children's Village is a critical role that requires a unique blend of counseling, case management, and supervision skills. As a key member of our team, you will provide emergency counseling, initial case management, and day-to-day supervision and monitoring of Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) sent to our program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide emergency counseling and initial case management to UAC, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Develop and implement individualized case plans to address the unique needs of each child.
  • Conduct regular supervision and monitoring of UAC, including daily check-ins and progress updates.
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure seamless communication and coordination of services.
  • Document all interactions and progress updates in a timely and accurate manner.

Requirements:

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; some college education preferred.
  • NYS Driver's License Required.
  • Minimum of 1 year employment experience in the child welfare field working with children and/or adolescents.
  • A genuine respect for and interest in children and their families of diverse racial and ethnic identity.
  • Ability to form a therapeutic relationship with children and their families.
  • Ability to put into practice all techniques of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (as taught in pre-employment training).
  • Ability to demonstrate counseling techniques.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English and Spanish.
