About the Role

The Plant Technician is a critical member of our operations team, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our bioprocessing equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of mechanical systems, as well as excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and operate all processes associated with the plant, including bioprocessing equipment and computerized systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance and basic repairs on plant equipment, documenting all activities.
  • Operate the Distributed Control System (DCS) for the plant, ensuring seamless process control.
  • Safely perform basic electrical troubleshooting and follow procedures for plant start-up, shut-down, cleaning, and batching.
  • Maintain accurate and timely logs, collect and test quality control samples, and interpret QA/QC results to optimize plant operations.
  • Assist in removal, installation, rebuild, and performance of preventive and predictive maintenance on all equipment associated with plant processes.
  • Help maintain a clean and safe work environment by following sanitation schedules and completing assigned tasks.
  • Notify management of safety, environmental, quality, and production concerns, problems, and opportunities.
  • Maintain a team environment and champion POET's values and mission.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience in a production environment preferred, with documented successful performance as a Plant Technician I or equivalent work experience required for higher-level positions.
  • Working knowledge in math, reading comprehension, and mechanical reasoning required.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with experience with software systems such as Maximo preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills, as well as the ability to adapt to changing situations.
Work Environment

This role requires working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with exposure to various physical and safety-sensitive conditions. Team members will be required to adhere to all safety requirements at all times and in all work environments.

This position is exposed to work in multiple environments, including plant, laboratory, and office environments. You may be exposed to high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, internal and external temperature/weather conditions, and chemicals.

Due to the physical and safety-sensitive nature of this job, you will be subject to a physical and expected to pass a drug screen during the pre-screen process. During employment, you'll be subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
