Plant Operations Specialist

The Plant Operations Specialist is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of all plant processing equipment and performing routine basic maintenance in a highly automated chemical facility. This role requires a strong understanding of bioprocessing processes and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain all plant processing equipment, including bioreactors, centrifuges, and pumps.
- Perform routine basic maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and lubricating equipment, and replacing worn or damaged parts.
- Monitor and control the plant's Distributed Control System (DCS) to ensure optimal process conditions.
- Collect and test quality control samples, interpret results, and make adjustments to optimize plant operations.
- Assist in the removal, installation, rebuild, and performance of preventive and predictive maintenance on all equipment associated with plant processes.
- Notify management of safety, environmental, quality, and production concerns, problems, and opportunities.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience in a production environment preferred.
- Working knowledge in math, reading comprehension, and mechanical reasoning required.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills required.
- Experience with software systems, such as Maximo, preferred.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills required.
The Plant Operations Specialist will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with exposure to high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, internal and external temperature/weather conditions, and chemicals. The role requires the ability to work at extreme heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures from -20 to +100 degrees Fahrenheit, both indoors and outdoors.
Physical Requirements- Wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, steel-toed boots, hazardous material suit, hearing protection, and harness.
- Working at extreme heights (approximately 150 ft), in confined spaces, and in extreme temperatures from -20 to +100 degrees Fahrenheit, both indoors and outdoors.
- Must be able to use the following equipment/tools, with training provided: forklift, power washer, pallet jack, hoist systems, scissor lifts, JLG lifts, telehandlers, Front End Loaders, various hand tools, and computers.
