Café Operations Supervisor

ABOUT:

The primary objective of this role is to facilitate and support the daily management of the café in accordance with the standards and expectations set by ownership. This position emphasizes fostering a workplace culture that aligns with company values, guiding the team to consistently exceed customer expectations, and assisting in the management of operational budgets for controllable expenses.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations:

  • Assist in managing the daily operations to meet ownership's standards while enhancing sales and customer counts, expanding market share, and maximizing profitability.
  • Ensure the team consistently meets company standards for hospitality, service quality, food and beverage excellence, and operational efficiency.
  • Support the accurate scheduling of dining room shifts in collaboration with the general manager.
  • Oversee the precise handling of cash transactions across all shifts.
  • Ensure that menus are current and accurately reflect any changes, both in-store and online.
  • Maintain an organized approach to service, ensuring team members fulfill their assigned roles and provide support as necessary.
  • Guarantee that mandatory breaks are taken as required.
  • Supervise the closing operations of the café as needed, ensuring that the team adheres to established standards.


Team Leadership/Support:

  • Assist in attracting, training, developing, and retaining employees.
  • Ensure a safe, healthy, and equitable work environment for all staff members.
  • Lead the team in discovering and implementing creative solutions when challenges arise, always maintaining a positive outlook.
  • Set objectives for the service team and ensure their successful achievement.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop the service team to enhance hospitality skills, increase sales, and manage costs effectively.


Maintenance:

  • Assist the General Manager in compiling an accurate list of maintenance needs and prioritizing them appropriately.


Administrative:

  • Ensure precise tracking of daytime and nighttime tips for the team, ensuring proper recording, printing, and display.
  • Facilitate accurate communication of daily performance through the completion and distribution of closing logs.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager in managing guest inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate responses.
  • Work with the service team to maintain accurate stock levels for supplies, placing orders as necessary.
  • Coordinate with finance, General Managers, and Culinary teams to ensure the café operates within budgetary constraints.
  • Monitor labor expenses and identify opportunities for cost reduction and revenue enhancement.
  • Contribute positively to the café's financial performance, taking all necessary steps to increase sales and improve profitability.
