MDG Design & Construction, a prominent firm in the realm of Real Estate Development and General Contracting, is on the lookout for a seasoned Construction Project Coordinator. This role will primarily focus on overseeing projects related to the extensive rehabilitation of affordable multi-family residential structures.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Construction Project Coordinator will hold the primary responsibility for managing the project lifecycle, encompassing preconstruction activities such as budget formulation, scheduling, and constructability assessments, as well as procurement of subcontractors and overseeing construction operations, including financial and safety management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Proficiently interpret and analyze project drawings and specifications.

· Maintain effective communication with the design team, including architects and engineers.

· Supervise project personnel and subcontractors.

· Facilitate subcontractor kickoff meetings and regular progress discussions.

· Engage in weekly coordination meetings with stakeholders.

· Develop, monitor, and update lists of open items and critical tasks.

· Oversee the Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) initiatives.

· Familiarity with relevant regulatory agencies.

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT:

· Process and distribute subcontractor requisitions to the management team.

· Conduct thorough reviews of subcontractor requisitions.

· Collaborate with the accounting department to ensure timely payment processing.

CONSTRUCTION ADMINISTRATION:

· Draft and manage scopes of work and schedules for subcontractor agreements.

· Prepare and issue Requests for Information (RFIs).

· Oversee contracts and subcontracts, ensuring compliance and performance.

· Review submittals and shop drawings meticulously.

· Manage change orders for both owners and subcontractors.

EXPEDITING TASKS:

· Coordinate project work permits and field inspections.

· Collaborate with internal expeditors to streamline filing and execution processes.

LEADERSHIP FUNCTIONS:

· Foster the development of high-performing teams through effective supervision and mentoring.

· Cultivate strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.

· Promote a positive and collaborative work environment.

PRECONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES:

· Prepare trade scopes of work and evaluate subcontractor bids.

· Collaborate with the development team during the scope development phase.

· Conduct constructability reviews and assist in creating actionable construction drawings.

RISK MANAGEMENT:

· Ensure compliance with safety protocols and insurance requirements.

SCHEDULING:

· Develop and maintain project schedules in conjunction with construction superintendents.

· Conduct weekly subcontractor meetings to align on project timelines.

TECHNICAL SKILLS:

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is required.
