Job Overview

The Energy Security Portfolio Coordinator will be instrumental in fostering collaboration across various departments and supporting the Grid Transition Team to achieve critical objectives for the Energy Security division. As New York's power grid undergoes significant transformation to better serve consumers, this role is vital in aligning with the state's clean energy goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Energy Security Manager to formulate, communicate, and execute tracking and coordination strategies that align with NYISO's Strategic Plan.
  • Establish metrics to pinpoint key factors influencing the reliability of the New York Grid during its transition to a carbon-neutral framework.
  • Create visual dashboards to illustrate generator participation in diverse regulatory programs.
  • Develop timelines, create schedules, and monitor progress to ensure timely achievement of objectives.
  • Assist in identifying and managing risks; measure, report, and escalate issues to management as necessary.
  • Prepare and analyze data queries, reports, charts, and presentations to support special studies, investigations, board meetings, and regulatory filings.
  • Support NYISO's transition to a carbon-free grid by identifying challenges and opportunities while driving improvements.
  • Facilitate information exchange from various sources across multiple areas, including environmental policies and control room operations, to enhance organizational knowledge dissemination.
  • Migrate dashboards to online platforms such as Tableau to streamline information sharing across Planning, Operations, and Market departments.
  • Assist in developing procedures to minimize administrative efforts in managing and visualizing operational information.
  • Track and coordinate interconnection project queues to enhance awareness of project statuses and their impacts on grid reliability.
  • Identify organizational capabilities to monitor progress on initiatives across Planning and Operations.
  • Engage with business units on initiatives within Planning, Operations, Markets, and IT.
  • Represent NYISO in industry committees and stakeholder groups addressing Energy Security issues.
  • Mentor and share knowledge with fellow Energy Security team members.
  • Promote an inclusive and professional work environment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Industrial Engineering is required; a Master's degree is preferred. Coursework in power system operation, statistical analysis, and optimization techniques is highly desirable.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in electric transmission, generation, utility, ISO, or RTO environments.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, and Tableau.
  • Experience in project planning with strong leadership skills and an aptitude for understanding complex business processes.
  • Exceptional organizational skills along with superior communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and familiarity with SQL or statistical programming languages.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
Additional Requirements
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and respond effectively to sensitive inquiries.
  • Capability to write presentations and articles in a prescribed style and deliver persuasive speeches on complex topics.
  • Intermediate competency in Windows operating environment, including MS Office applications and internet navigation.
  • Ability to apply logical or scientific principles to a variety of intellectual and practical problems.
Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. Routine office tasks involve standing, walking, sitting, and using hands.
