POSITION OVERVIEW

Grade(s): 5th - 8th

The Assistant Dean of Students plays a vital role in shaping the school's culture, promoting student character development, and ensuring a constructive and organized environment that facilitates accelerated learning.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate closely with the Dean of Students to cultivate a positive, structured, and achievement-focused school culture.
  • Assist in implementing effective school investment systems that provide consistent rewards and consequences for student behavior.
  • Organize and support recognition assemblies, parent workshops, community events, and other initiatives that build school culture.
  • Support educators in fostering relationships with students and parents; work on parental involvement strategies in partnership with School Leadership.
  • Oversee school entry, breakfast, lunch, transitions, and dismissal to ensure they are orderly and positive.
  • Promote systems that guarantee all students maintain excellent attendance and arrive at school punctually.
  • Ensure that the physical environment of the school reinforces the school culture and enhances student achievement.
  • In collaboration with the Operations Team and Grade Level Chairs, ensure successful field trips, school events, and extracurricular activities.
  • Coordinate, provide, and supervise behavioral activities for students.
  • Offer essential guidance to Teachers to ensure all staff meet the needs of students, particularly those with special needs.
  • Manage and mitigate risks within the classroom with the support of the Lead teacher.
  • Work in partnership with the Director of Student Support Services to ensure students receive the necessary support for success.
Additional Information

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred; High School Diploma/GED required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of successful experience in a classroom or a related profession working with youth.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule outside of standard business hours.
  • Capacity to create and operate within an inclusive environment that respects and supports diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
