The Manufacturing Financial Leader provides essential financial guidance to the Brookville, IN Roofing Plant. This role reports directly to the Site Leader while maintaining a collaborative relationship with the Business Financial Leader to drive optimal outcomes. The Manufacturing Financial Leader is tasked with upholding a robust controls environment that adheres to the Company's internal control standards. This individual is expected to be a proactive contributor to the plant leadership team, influencing all facets of plant operations. Additionally, this role encompasses responsibilities related to Shipping and Warehouse management.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Operations Strategy

  • Engages in the formulation of operational goals for the plant that align with Corporate and Division strategic aims.
  • Champions the proactive creation of contingency strategies, productivity enhancements, and corrective measures to ensure financial performance and shareholder value are maximized.

2. Financial and Operational Oversight

  • Guarantees the presence of an effective and efficient internal control system, ensuring data integrity, asset security, segregation of duties, budgeting, financial reporting, information systems, and compliance with corporate policies and regulations (GAAP, SOX compliance, etc.).
  • Facilitates a comprehensive representation letter process that assures and clarifies a sound internal control framework.
  • Leads the Continuous Sign-off initiative to ensure accountability for internal controls is well-defined and processes are thoroughly documented.

3. Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Directs financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities, including the closing processes.
  • Prepares and presents the plant's financial forecasts and projections accurately and promptly.
  • Conducts the monthly closing process in collaboration with the Division Accounting team.
  • Effectively communicates results to management and non-financial stakeholders.
  • Provides detailed analysis on variances from plans and forecasts.
  • Conducts risk assessments for contingency planning.

4. Enhancing Plant Profitability

  • Guides initiatives aimed at achieving financial targets, mitigating risks, and prioritizing resource allocation.
  • Proactively develops contingency plans, productivity improvements, and corrective actions to ensure optimal financial outcomes.
  • Delivers insightful and competitive analytics that anticipate changes and inform decision-making.
  • Conducts investment evaluations.
  • Assists in the assessment and negotiation of contracts.
  • Educates plant personnel on critical performance metrics, including productivity, financial, and capital investment.
  • Leads Operational Excellence initiatives (TPM); 5S, cost deployment, cost intelligence.

5. Cross-Functional Leadership and Collaboration

  • Collaborates across organizational boundaries and all levels of the company to achieve plant, division, and corporate objectives.
  • Shares best practices across divisions, including process enhancements, financial modeling, and procedural updates.
  • Aligns teams and resources to address challenges and drive results.
  • Provides support to team members at the plant, segment, and corporate levels.

6. Talent Development and Leadership

  • Fosters an environment conducive to talent development through effective performance management, talent evaluation systems, and resource utilization.
  • Acts as a resource for non-financial leaders, offering education and training on fundamental finance principles.
  • Invests in the growth and development of identified talent within the organization.
  • Ensures the execution of succession plans for key roles.

7. Plant Process and Administrative Oversight

  • Leads compliance processes at third-party logistics warehouses and supervises inventory counts as necessary.
  • Allocates resources and provides guidance and direction.
  • Monitors and holds self and others accountable for safety standards.
  • Ensures the successful execution of site security functions, including managing and implementing security standards and conducting assessments of security equipment.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is required.
  • Experience in leading teams within a manufacturing environment, including operations planning, savings initiatives, and forecasting.
  • Proven track record of driving continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated significant growth in previous roles.
  • Involvement in the development of strategic plans.
  • Experience in negotiating, developing, and evaluating contracts with customers and suppliers.
  • Ability to attract, develop, and retain exceptional talent, focusing on talent growth and succession planning.
  • Experience operating in diverse economic conditions, including expansion, contraction, and stability—proficient in forecasting, scenario planning, risk analysis, and contingency development.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong financial acumen with demonstrated analytical skills, understanding of corporate finance, and manufacturing costing principles—proficient in P&L and balance sheet dynamics.
  • Ability to teach and communicate effectively and clearly.
  • Proven capability to manage and control costs—effectively develops business cases and engages leaders to take appropriate actions.
  • Ability to develop a deep understanding of customers, competition, and market dynamics, utilizing this information to drive profitability.
