Position Overview

La Scuola International School is in search of a dedicated and enthusiastic Part-Time Elementary Teacher for the upcoming academic year, with an expectation of approximately 25 hours per week.

We are particularly keen on candidates with a background in the IB PYP (IB Primary Years Program). Applicants should demonstrate the ability to deliver an inquiry-based curriculum, possess strong teamwork skills, and exhibit proactivity and adaptability. Final candidates will be required to prepare for a teaching demonstration.

The Elementary Teacher will assist in executing the daily educational program in alignment with the school's policies and philosophy, under the guidance of the Division Director and Head of School.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Designing, planning, and implementing curriculum goals and long-term projects within the IB-PYP framework.
  • Setting educational and developmental objectives for students, both collectively and individually.
  • Preparing both indoor and outdoor environments to support educational aims.
  • Establishing and nurturing personal connections with each student's family.
  • Maintaining effective communication with parents.
Qualifications

Required qualifications include:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development Certificate, or a minimum of 5 years of experience working with children.
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience at the K-8 level, preferably in a language immersion or IB accredited setting.
  • Experience in a Reggio Emilia inspired educational environment.
Essential Skills

Key skills required:
  • Fluency in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
  • Proficiency in Italian is advantageous.
  • Understanding of the Reggio Emilia approach.
  • Familiarity with the IB-PYP Curriculum framework or inquiry/project-based methodologies.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Problem-solving capabilities, creativity, and excellent multitasking skills.
  • Ability to design curriculum and mentor fellow educators.
  • Strong public speaking skills for presentations to parents and colleagues.
  • A genuine passion for working with children, including those with mild learning differences.
  • Capacity to collaborate effectively within a collegial and cooperative environment.
  • A commitment to being an active and enthusiastic member of the La Scuola community.
