Course Overview:
Java Programming 1
Participants will delve into the fundamentals of Java programming. Key topics include Object-Oriented Programming principles, class definitions, variable usage, method creation, basic input/output operations, and polymorphism.

Additionally, they will gain proficiency in utilizing Git, a version control system, to manage and store their projects on Github.

Essential commands and the Eclipse Integrated Development Environment (IDE) will also be introduced. By the conclusion of the course, participants will possess a foundational understanding of Java and the ability to develop basic Java applications.

Students enrolled in introductory Java courses will also explore basic concepts in other programming languages such as C, C++, and Scheme.


Instructor Responsibilities:
In-Person Camp Duties

Beyond teaching obligations, instructors are expected to support the camp director with active supervision, engage in recreational activities, and assist with various administrative tasks.

Instructors should demonstrate maturity, reliability, and the ability to collaborate effectively with other staff members.

They will also serve as mentors and may be called upon to assist with field trips and guide participants during excursions.

With the backing of the entire team, instructors hold a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of participants while achieving educational goals.


Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in teaching programming to youth or substantial subject matter expertise.
- Experience engaging with middle school, high school, or university students in an educational environment.
- A Bachelor's degree is mandatory; preference will be given to candidates with advanced degrees.
- A genuine passion for computer education.
- A composed and professional demeanor.
- Self-motivated with strong follow-through.
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Must reside within the continental United States.
