Billing and Accounts Receivable Specialist - Customer Service

Department: BAR - Customer Service

As a vital member of our team, you will assist patients with inquiries and concerns related to professional and hospital billing. Your responsibilities will include conducting account research, verifying balances, and providing patient support while ensuring compliance with billing policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with patients to address billing questions and concerns.
  • Perform account research and balance verification.
  • Support the collection of self-pay accounts and manage patient disputes.
  • Collaborate with insurance follow-up teams and third-party payers to enhance collections.
  • Utilize independent judgment to prioritize tasks effectively.

Qualifications:

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of experience in healthcare billing, collections, or medical office settings. A four-year degree may substitute for this experience.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with Fair Debt Collection Practices Act guidelines.
  • Knowledge of medical CPT/ICD10 coding and the Epic billing system.
  • Coding certification is advantageous.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities in a team-oriented environment.

Compensation:

Minimum Pay Rate: Hourly: $15.45

Midpoint Pay Rate: Hourly: $19.65
