Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Employee Relations to join our team at New York University. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and guidance on labor relations, employee engagement, and human resources initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement labor relations strategies to maintain positive relationships with employees and unions
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on employment law, collective bargaining agreements, and labor relations best practices
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement human resources initiatives that promote employee engagement and retention
  • Manage and resolve employee grievances and complaints in a fair and timely manner
  • Develop and deliver training programs on labor relations, employee engagement, and human resources topics
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a related field, such as labor relations, human resources, or business administration
  • 10+ years of experience in labor relations, employee engagement, or human resources, with a strong background in collective bargaining agreements and employment law
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree
  • Experience working in a higher education or non-profit setting
  • Knowledge of labor relations software and systems
What We Offer

New York University offers a competitive salary range of $190,000 to $230,000 per year, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
