Position Overview

Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP is a well-established firm with over a century of experience, dedicated to delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

We are seeking a Hydraulic/Drainage Engineer to enhance our team in the Jacksonville, FL area. This role involves collaborating with various teams across different regions in Florida and engaging with WRA's market sectors. The selected candidate will be responsible for executing drainage projects associated with a variety of transportation initiatives, working closely with the Florida Department of Transportation, local municipalities, and regional planning organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic (H/H) studies and drainage design.
  • Design and manage stormwater management (SWM) systems and erosion/sediment control (ESC) projects, ensuring compliance with various Water Management Districts and regulatory bodies.
  • Prepare and submit state and federal permitting documentation.
  • Utilize H/H design software such as ICPR, HY-8, NRCS (TR-55/TR-20), HydroCAD, StreamStats, and HEC-RAS.
  • Employ MicroStation CADD software for design tasks, with a preference for knowledge in 3D design, including OpenRoads Designer.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in hydrology, hydraulics, drainage, SWM, and ESC design, particularly within Florida and neighboring states.
  • Possession of a Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain one within six months of employment.
  • Familiarity with Florida DOT specifications, policies, and procedures.
  • Understanding of FDEP regulations and the operational procedures of Florida Water Management Districts.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, coupled with a positive attitude and collaborative spirit.
