Position Overview

The selected candidate will be tasked with the comprehensive design of water and wastewater systems, overseeing projects from initial concept through to permitting, as well as managing plan production and construction contract oversight. A solid understanding of the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) regulations is essential. Candidates with specific experience in water and wastewater treatment design, including pump and lift station systems, will be given preference. Regular interaction with both private and municipal clients is expected.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Water Resources Engineer, your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Designing:
  • Wastewater collection networks

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in software such as Excel, OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, WaterCAD, SewerCAD, XPSWMM, and ArcGIS is highly desirable.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being capable of working independently when necessary. A strong desire to learn, self-motivation, and excellent communication skills are essential.
  • A proven track record of setting and achieving professional goals, along with a passion for mentoring junior staff, will be advantageous.
  • Opportunities for leadership and management of junior team members within the discipline are available.

Education and Experience:

  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field is required.
  • Demonstrated expertise in water and wastewater systems, pump hydraulics, and treatment design, with a history of delivering construction documents on time and within budget, is crucial.
  • Advanced degrees and specialization in water and wastewater treatment processes are preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant project experience is required, with 5 to 10 years being ideal.
  • Possession of a Florida P.E. license or the ability to obtain it through comity within 6 months of employment is necessary.

Working Conditions

  • Willingness to undertake out-of-town travel assignments and work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.
  • Engagement with clients during and outside of standard working hours is expected.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
