We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to join our team at Nationwide Children's Hospital. As a Patient Access Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth registration and scheduling of patients, while providing exceptional customer service and support to our patients and families.
Key Responsibilities- Provide excellent customer service to patients and families by applying best practices and standard operating procedures.
- Interview and register patients in registration areas, ensuring accurate demographic, insurance, and physician information.
- Screen customer data to ensure patient eligibility for insurance and communicate any differences to the customer.
- Assist in identifying self-pay patients and referring them to financial assistance when applicable.
- Establish and maintain open communication with all departments that Patient Access interacts with and clinical staff in those areas.
- Assist in the shadowing and precepting of new employees.
- High school graduate, Associate's Degree preferred.
- One-year previous healthcare experience preferred.
- CPR certification (based on position and as determined by manager).
- Demonstrated computer skills with the ability to navigate most current technology systems.
- Strong administrative skills.
This role requires occasional squatting, reaching above shoulder level, and lifting/carrying up to 20 pounds. The employee will also be exposed to biohazard waste and loud noises. The position requires continuous standing, walking, sitting, and hand use, as well as computer skills and problem-solving abilities.
