Job Overview

People's Self-Help Housing (PSHH) is seeking a dedicated Compliance Specialist to join our team. Our organization is committed to developing affordable housing and providing essential services that empower individuals and strengthen communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with residents, community organizations, and internal departments.
  • Manage income certifications and re-certifications for various affordable housing programs, ensuring accurate updates in the Yardi database.
  • Provide training for new Property Management personnel on compliance policies and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to compliance policies among Property Management staff.
  • Stay informed about compliance-related policy and regulatory changes affecting properties.
  • Oversee tenant move-ins and move-outs in accordance with established agency procedures.
  • Guarantee that all files are compliant at move-in and that all regulatory requirements are met throughout the tenant's residency.
  • Conduct annual audits of property files to ensure compliance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to work independently in a dynamic environment and adapt to evolving organizational structures and priorities.
  • Strong organizational capabilities with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.

Experience

  • Proficient in computer applications, including Yardi and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience in multi-family affordable housing is preferred.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) is required.

Certifications

  • Current certifications in LIHTC, HUD, USDA RD, HOME, or Bond are preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to reach, squat, bend, and lift office-related materials.
