Job Overview

People's Self-Help Housing (PSHH) is seeking a dedicated Compliance Specialist to join our team. Our organization is committed to creating affordable housing solutions and providing essential services that empower individuals and enhance community well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with residents, community stakeholders, and internal departments.
  • Manage income certifications and re-certifications for various affordable housing initiatives, ensuring accurate updates in the Yardi database.
  • Train new Property Management personnel on compliance-related policies and procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to compliance policies and procedures among Property Management staff.
  • Stay informed about regulatory changes and ensure properties comply with all relevant policies.
  • Oversee tenant move-in and move-out processes in accordance with agency guidelines.
  • Guarantee 100% compliance in tenant files at move-in, including all necessary documentation for re-certifications and interim reviews.
  • Conduct annual audits of property files to ensure compliance.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Proven ability to work independently in a dynamic environment and adapt to evolving priorities.
  • Strong organizational skills with the capability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred but not mandatory.

Experience

  • Proficient in computer applications, including Yardi and MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Minimum of two years of relevant experience in multi-family affordable housing is preferred.

Education

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

Certifications

  • Current certifications in LIHTC, HUD, USDA RD, HOME, or Bond are preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Willingness to travel as necessary.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to reach, squat, bend, and lift office-related materials.
