Position Overview:


The Lead Electrical Engineer will possess a broad range of expertise in power distribution, illumination, low voltage systems, and telecommunications design.

The ideal candidate will excel in the planning, design, and coordination of electrical systems, collaborating effectively with team members and clients to fulfill project objectives.

Experience in low voltage systems should encompass security and access control, CCTV, telecommunications with wireless capabilities, high-speed data access, voice/data/video integration, and familiarity with structured cabling standards.

The candidate will have a proven track record in supervising and guiding a team of professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Independently assess, select, and implement standard engineering methodologies, procedures, and criteria on moderately complex projects.

2. Review architectural plans and prepare or evaluate technical specifications and contract documents.

3. Assist in resolving design challenges that may involve field investigations, inspections, detailed design work, and thorough checking of design calculations performed by others.

4. Develop and maintain a robust network of new and existing clients, managing client relationships and ensuring satisfaction.


5. Contribute to the growth and expansion of the team through strategic planning and the execution of the firm's overall business and marketing strategies.


6. Prepare cost estimates, periodic reports on construction activities, payment estimates, and documentation necessary for material acceptability and final payment.

7. Provide design recommendations, adaptations, and modifications based on actual field conditions.

8. Assist in creating technical documentation to support marketing initiatives.

9. Serve as a technical resource for Airport and/or MEP team requests related to low voltage systems design support.

10. Aid in the development of low voltage design templates, standards, and guidelines to enhance departmental accuracy and efficiency.

11. Evaluate contractor performance and adherence to construction documents.

12. Integrate service provider and client utility infrastructure requirements into low voltage designs.

13. Obtain and review documentation to coordinate and integrate low voltage systems.

14. Plan and design low voltage systems, including system layouts, wiring diagrams, equipment selection, and fiber optic/cabling transitions.

15. Lead quality assurance and quality control efforts for the department.

16. Mentor and oversee the production efforts of junior staff, providing feedback to the Team Manager regarding departmental workload status.

17. While nights and weekends are generally not required, they may occasionally be necessary with little or no advanced notice.

Essential Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.

10+ years of relevant experience.

Proficiency in AutoCAD.

RCDD and Infocomm CTS certifications are desirable.

Proficiency in Revit.

Knowledge of applicable building codes and industry standards.

Experience with low voltage systems in fire alarm security, access control, video, CCTV, and communications.

Experience in airport-related projects is preferred.

Proficiency with MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Familiarity with TIA/EIA industry standards.

Demonstrated ability to resolve complex design challenges.

Excellent communication skills with a collaborative attitude.

Ability to work effectively with all levels of employees, management, and clients.

Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet critical deadlines, and follow up on assignments with minimal supervision.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive client information and documents appropriately.

Proficient in English usage, including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary.

Licensure:
Valid driver's license and maintenance of a satisfactory driving record.


Florida Professional Engineer license is required, and the ability to obtain licensure in other jurisdictions where the company operates is necessary.


Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervisory experience is preferred.

Telecommuting:


Due to the collaborative nature of this role and the need for in-house client meetings, it is essential for this position to be performed in the office.


Work Environment:
Work typically occurs in a clean, pleasant, and comfortable office setting. Site visits may occasionally take place in outdoor environments.

Site visits may occur in areas with high voltage, necessitating extra caution and adherence to additional safety guidelines.


Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively. The employee frequently sits for extended periods.

Occasionally, the employee may need to stand, walk, use hands for handling or feeling, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this position include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Tool/Personal Protective Equipment Requirements:


As dictated by client site protocols, candidates will be required to utilize appropriate personal protective equipment, including but not limited to gloves, sleeves, leather protectors, hard hats, safety vests, safety glasses and shields, hearing protection, safety shoes, covers, helmets/hoods, and any additional tools necessary for the task at hand.
