M.C. Dean, Inc. is a leading provider of automated, secure, and resilient power and technology systems. We are seeking a skilled Surveyor to join our team in Richmond, VA.

Job Summary

We are looking for a detail-oriented Surveyor to provide quality surveying services to ensure construction work complies with design drawings and specifications. The successful candidate will perform survey measurements for job set-up, stake-out, and "As-Built". They will also provide survey support to job site personnel as required throughout the course of a project.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in determining elevations and laying out stakes; mark points of measurement with required data; assist in measuring between points; place stakes at designated points and specified elevations.
  • Operate all survey equipment including Total Station, GPS Data collector, and Auto Levels.
  • Follow detailed instructions and pay close attention to detail.
  • Read construction drawings and specifications.
  • Learn new concepts and adapt to new technologies.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Proficient in algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Proficient communication skills including verbal and written, interpersonal and organizational.
  • Ability to interact professionally with all levels of staff with strong customer service orientation.
  • Ability to commit to the company values.
  • Ability to collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to travel as required which may include out-of-town travel.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Dependable vehicle with up-to-date inspection sticker to perform work-related duties.
  • Current surveyor license is preferred.
Physical Demands/Work Environment

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to sit; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must the ability to work long hours and drive long distances to and from work; may be required to work some weekends.
