Job Summary

M.C. Dean is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Testing Field Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing electrical testing and commissioning services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program, install, and maintain protective relaying and metering systems.
  • Perform electrical tests and repairs to ensure the safe and efficient operation of transmission and distribution equipment.
  • Analyze test results and interpret electrical diagrams to identify and resolve issues.
  • Collaborate with other department personnel to coordinate testing, troubleshooting, and repairs.
  • Commission new relay and metering installations.
  • Perform maintenance on and testing of relays and associated equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace components involved in questionable operations and failures.
Requirements
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 25% - 50% of the time.
  • Strong oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated background working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated time management and organization skills to meet deadlines and quality objectives.
  • Strong MS Excel, Word, Power DB, and Smartsheet experience is a plus.
  • 2-4 years of experience or Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Abilities
  • Lifts at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period of time.
  • Relocates a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Works at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
  • Walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls, and reaches overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Possesses good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  • May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.
Other Abilities
  • Works both indoors and outdoors in extreme temperatures, including heat, cold, humidity, temperature swings, and inclement weather.
  • Frequent exposure to dust, odor, electrical, mechanical, loud noise, and toxic hazards.
  • Operates hand tools, heavy equipment, light trucks, and power tools.
  • May be required to work after-hours, weekends, and holidays and respond timely to urgent or emergency situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • NETA level III or IV certification.
