Summary:
As an Admissions Nursing Specialist (RN), your primary responsibility is to facilitate the admissions process for incoming hospice patients.
You will also provide education to potential patients, their family members, and caregivers regarding the advantages of hospice care, assisting them during a challenging period.

The salary range for the Admissions Nursing Specialist (RN) is between $33.49 and $44.58, with a sign-on bonus available. Recent nursing graduates are encouraged to apply.Responsibilities of the Admissions Nursing Specialist (RN) include: Assessing whether the patient qualifies for admission into the hospice program through visual contact, interviewing the patient and family, and gathering medical history through direct interaction with the patient and chart review as necessary; Conducting the initial assessment of the admissions process to address the immediate care needs of the patient/family; Completing the admission and transfer process with patients and families, which includes explaining hospice services, insurance benefits, and fulfilling required paperwork and consents as appropriate; Offering education and support related to symptom management and the physical aspects of end-of-life care for the patient/family/caregiver and/or facility team as necessary; Communicating patient/family/caregiver immediate needs and significant interdisciplinary care plan issues to the patient's assigned Registered Nurse Case Manager and on-call staff as appropriate; and Consulting with the physician for necessary orders and assisting in procuring needed supplies, equipment, medications, and/or other available services.
Qualifications for the Admissions Nursing Specialist (RN) include: Graduation from an accredited nursing program and current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the State of Michigan; Two years of recent clinical experience is preferred, although recent nursing school graduates are also encouraged to apply.
Experience in homecare or hospice is desirable; sound clinical judgment; and knowledge and/or experience in pain symptom management with end-of-life care.
