Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Associate Director of Finance to join our team at The University of Texas at Austin. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for providing leadership, oversight, and direction to the University Development Office (UDO) Finance Team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with the Chief Business Officer (CBO) and UDO leaders to ensure the organization's financial health and long-term sustainability goals.
  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and submission of the UDO annual revenue and expense budget.
  • Monitor, track, prepare, and utilize UDO funds for appropriate use while ensuring that spending is within budget and supported by UDO leaders.
  • Prepare monthly reconciliations, provide periodic financial reports on spending patterns, analyze plans, and find purchase alternatives and participate in annual budget preparation exercises.
  • Recommend funding levels, changes, redistributions of funds, and analyze data to identify potential problems with cash flows for personnel and non-personnel funding allocations.
  • Work directly with the contracts, procurement, travel, development, and talent development teams to establish best practices, stand operating procedures (SOPs), and process maps that align with institutional policies.
  • Communicate key data in a user-friendly and concise manner to individuals with varying levels of financial acumen, including presentations to program managers, senior management, and cross-functional team members.
  • Recruit, onboard, lead, coach, and mentor team members as needed.
  • Work with senior UDO Finance team members to create more efficient and transparent processes, documents, and financial information.
  • Develop and coordinate routine and ad hoc financial analysis, including expenditure, full-time employment (FTE), and other pertinent data, including organization-wide modeling, estimating the impacts of fringe rate changes, investment fluctuations, and metrics.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum five years of experience in a related field, such as finance, program management, organizational operations, organizational management, or higher education administration.
  • Minimum three years of experience managing budgets.
  • A self-starter requiring little supervision with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • An excellent presenter with keen analytic, organizational, and problem-solving skills that allow for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting.
  • Proficiency with database, spreadsheet, and word processing applications (Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, and Excel preferred).
Preferred Qualifications

Experience in financial analysis and budget planning/forecasting is highly desirable. Additionally, expertise in procurement for materials and contracted services, including Professional Service Agreements, RFPs, etc., is a plus.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $95,000 + depending on qualifications.

Working Conditions

This role will be based in a standard office environment with repetitive use of a keyboard.

Work Shift

May require additional hours during peak season of fiscal year.
